2012 AALL Annual Meeting Program & Workshop Proposals Collection

The criteria for creating a proposal haven't changed, but the process is better than ever! Once you create your proposer profile, you can work on your proposal(s) in your own virtual workspace, saving your work as you go in order to come back to it later by simply logging back in. You can share your draft proposal with fellow colleagues prior to submission. You can upload supplemental materials (speaker biographies, etc.). You can keep track of proposals "in progress" and proposals already submitted. All proposals must be submitted through this site no later than 11:59 p.m. Central Time, Thursday, September 15. Let's get started!

If you were adversely affected by the August earthquake or hurricane on the East Coast and will be unable to meet the September 15 submission deadline, contact proposalhelp@aall.org prior to the deadline.

"Learn, Connect, Grow." is the positive and forward-thinking theme for the upcoming year and the 2012 Annual Meeting to be held in Boston.

We hope you will think about the various connections within AALL and in our wider communities when you put together your proposals. When proposing a program, please consider whether it helps us connect with groups and people outside of AALL who can help us to learn and grow.

To that end, programs will be slotted within the following tracks:

  • General or Core Programs
  • Library Administration and Management
  • Research, Reference, and Client Services
  • Information Technology
  • Collection Development and Cataloging
  • Teaching

If you are looking for ideas or want to discuss your program ideas before finalizing the proposal, for first time this year, there will be an Annual Meeting Program Ideas online community where you can discuss and follow updated information about the programs for 2012.

Our members have clearly stated that they are looking for advanced programs, practical knowledge, and programs on substantive law, technical services, and library management and administration. The Annual Meeting Program Committee is particularly interested in supporting those needs, and is looking for proposals that feature concrete, practical ideas and case studies about library services and information resources. We want our members to take away new knowledge and skills that they can apply in their libraries and in their career paths, and fresh insights into existing challenges.

We strongly suggest you download and review the Information for Program Proposers section, even if you've submitted proposals in the past. Not only will you find guidance for writing your proposal, but also important news about the focus of this year's Annual
Meeting and Conference, as well as information regarding the proposal selection process. You may also watch, Perfect Program Proposals: A Webinar for Annual Meeting Program Planning, to learn the best tips for making an exciting and successful program proposal.

Anyone submitting a proposal for the 2012 Annual Meeting and Conference must first create a new proposer profile. (This proposer profile is different from an AALL member profile.)
